Fit Pregnancy #Bumpdate: 28 Weeks

EEK, the third trimester is HERE! We’re getting closer, baby boy! I apologize for the crappy photo quality… I took these on the Snapchat app in my garage. The lighting in my garage is not great unless the door is open, and it was like 30 degrees outside. So I settled for crappy pictures. The left was a normal selfie that I took first, the middle is my normal belly, and I’m flexing on the right. It’s crazy to me that I can still somehow flex something with that baby in there! 🙂


Size of baby: 14.5 – 16 inches long and about 2.5 pounds; my app compares him to a tropical coconut this week.

Diet: My diet has been great. Eating lots of lean meats and produce. I am very consistent with eating five times per day at regular intervals.

Workouts: Still at it! I have ditched a couple of exercises and replaced them because they are starting to feel awkward. Same goes for a couple of different stretches.

How I’m Feeling: Great! I know having my diets and workouts on track helps a ton. There are a couple of things I’m noticing as I begin the third trimester. That fatigue is starting to come back. The last several weeks I have enjoyed an energetic second trimester, as many moms typically do, but that tired feeling is starting to creep back. I also noticed that I’m starting to have aching ligaments in my belly and pelvis if I am on my feet for long periods of time. Signs that D-Day is drawing closer!

What Baby’s Up To: Baby is putting on more and more body fat (I read that his body fat percentage is at about 2-3%, which means he still has a long way to go) and blinking his eyes which now have eyelashes. His brain is also developing millions of neurons and he is experiencing REM sleep cycles. I have noticed that there is a definitive pattern to when he is moving now. He also likes to hang out on the right side of my belly. It can look pretty odd when I’m lying on my back.

Doctor’s Appointment: I had a doctor appointment last Friday. I had the two hour blood glucose test along with my regular check up. Both the check up and the test results were all great (so thankful!). I was very apprehensive for the test. I failed the two hour by one point with Camden’s pregnancy, and they had to poke me several times in each arm with every blood draw to get enough. I have really tiny veins in the crook of my arm I guess… I have always had that problem. But this time, I had a nurse that didn’t even try to use he big needle that’s typically used to draw blood; she used a syringe with a tiny needle and got it on the first time every try! I also got a shot to vaccinate the baby against pertussis. So I had sore arms for a couple of days. But I’m so thankful everything went very well. I do have a follow-up ultrasound tomorrow (Tuesday) to check my uterus and baby’s spine. Next week’s post will cover that!

Thoughts and Reflections: I was filling out my planner for December and it made me realize how fast all of this is going to go! We still have a lot to do before the baby comes. We need to set up the crib, buy a car seat, stroller, swing, and anything else I decide we should have. I didn’t keep anything from Camden aside from the crib. I also need to start a diaper stash and make a list of all the medicine cupboard items I’ll want to have on hand, like infant tylenol, motrin, gripe water, diaper rash cream, baby lotion and powder, etc. I am not going to stress about it at the moment because I know with the business of this month, I’m not going to get to it. But come January, it’s definitely ‘get ready for baby’ time! I am so thankful for God’s blessings on us and am praying for good ultrasound results tomorrow. I am excited to see the little peanut again!
